1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Manufacturer's descriptive literature for
products specified in this section.
NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if specifying Lav-
Shield or Basin Guard only.
C. Shop Drawings: Indicate locations and configurations of
piping insulation for indicated plumbing configurations.
D. Quality Assurance Submittals: Manufacturer's printed
installation instructions for each specified product.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Store products of this section in manufacturer's unopened
packaging until installation.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

NOTE ** Delete one of the two following paragraphs;
coordinate with Division 1 requirements.
B. Requests for substitution will be considered in
accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
C. Substitutions: Not permitted.
2.2 PIPING INSULATION
NOTE ** Lav-Guard components will fit all 1-1/4 inch (32
mm) and 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) diameter cast brass or
tubular waste piping components and all 3/8 inch (9
mm) and 1/2 inch (12 mm) diameter supply piping
components; they will not fit Schedule 40 plastic P-
traps.
A. Piping Safety Covers:
1. Acceptable products: Truebro Lav-Guard.
2. Characteristics: One-piece vinyl components, minimum
1/8 inch (3 mm) wall thickness, with internal ribs to
provide air space between piping and piping
insulation jacket, molded to receive manufacturer's
snap-clip fasteners.
3. Vinyl material: Impact-resistant and stain-resistant
molded closed-cell anti-microbial vinyl compound, UV-
stable, non-fading, non-yellowing: having the
following performance characteristics:
a. Burning characteristics, when tested in
accordance with ASTM D 635: 0 seconds Average
Time of Burning (ATB), 0 mm Area of Burning
(AEB).
b. Thermal conductivity, when tested in accordance
with ASTM C 177: K-value 1.17 (2.02 metric
equivalent).
c. Indentation hardness, when tested in accordance
with ASTM D 2240: 60 Shore A, minimum.
4. Trap assembly cover: Three-piece assembly, with
removable clean-out nut enclosure.
5. Angle stop covers: Formed with hinged cap for access
to valve without requiring cover removal.
6. Configurations: In accordance with manufacturer's
product data for project piping configurations
indicated on drawings.
NOTE ** Select vinyl finish color in one of the following
two sub-paragraphs.
7. Color: China White, gloss finish; paintable.
8. Color: Light Gray, gloss finish.
B. Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard re-usable snap-clip
fasteners; wire-tie fasteners not permitted.
2.3 LAVATORY PIPING ENCLOSURE
NOTE ** Lav-Shield will fit all ADA-compliant 20-inch (508
mm) by 18-inch (457 mm) wall-hung china lavatories.
A. Lavatory Piping Enclosure:
1. Acceptable product: Truebro Lav-Shield.
2. Characteristics: One-piece rigid molded vinyl
enclosure, minimum 1/8 inch (3 mm) wall thickness,
factory-punched for manufacturer's wall fasteners.
3. Vinyl material: Impact-resistant and stain-resistant
molded closed-cell vinyl, having the following
performance characteristics:
a. Burning characteristics, when tested in
accordance with ASTM D 635: 0 seconds Average
Time of Burning (ATB), 0 mm Area of Burning
(AEB).
b. Flammability: UL 94 V-O rating.
c. Indentation hardness, when tested in accordance
with ASTM D 2240: 69 Shore D, minimum.
4. Vinyl color: China White, fine-textured finish;
paintable.
NOTE ** Retain one of the following two paragraphs.
B. Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard stainless steel wall
fasteners.
C. Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard stainless steel wall
fasteners with tamper-resistant heads.
2.4 BASIN/SINK PIPING ENCLOSURE
NOTE ** Basin Guard will fit all ADA-compliant sinks and
lavatories installed in countertops, below
countertops between cabinets or walls; 36-inch (914
mm) and 42-inch (1066 mm) widths available.
A. Basin Piping Enclosure:
1. Acceptable product: Truebro Basin Guard.
2. Characteristics: One-piece rigid molded vinyl
enclosure, minimum 0.093 inch (2.3 mm) wall
thickness, factory-punched flanges for fasteners.
3. Vinyl material: Impact-resistant and stain-resistant
molded closed-cell vinyl, having the following
performance characteristics:
a. Burning characteristics, when tested in
accordance with ASTM D 635: 0 seconds Average
Time of Burning (ATB), 0 mm Area of Burning
(AEB).
b. Boca Basic Building Code Fire Rating: Class 1.
c. Indentation hardness, when tested in accordance
with ASTM D 2240: 69 Shore D, minimum.
NOTE ** Retain one of the following two sub-paragraphs to
specify unit width.
4. Width: 36 inches (914 mm).
5. Width: 42 inches (1066 mm).
NOTE ** Select vinyl finish color in one of the following
two sub-paragraphs.
6. Color: White, fine-textured finish; paintable.
7. Color: Beige, fine-textured finish.
NOTE ** Retain one of the following two paragraphs.
B. Fasteners: Supply non-corroding fasteners; type
recommended by manufacturer for indicated project
conditions.
C. Fasteners: Supply non-corroding fasteners with tamper-
resistant heads; type recommended by manufacturer for
indicated project conditions.
PART 3 EXECUTION
NOTE ** Delete the following Article if specifying Lav-
Shield or Basin Guard only.
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify the following conditions before installing
products of this section: Piping configurations are
correct type for piping cover component configurations
specified.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install products of this section in accordance with
manufacturer's printed installation instructions.
3.3 PROTECTION OF INSTALLED PRODUCTS
A. Do not allow damage to installed products by subsequent
construction activities; protect products until
Substantial Completion.
